Before the Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina, immigrant farmers - wood carvers from Herzegovina - brought their skills into the area of Konjic, more precisely upper course of the Neretva River (from Bijela to Grusca).
Their centers were villages Grusca, Ribari, Cicevo and Bijela.Wood carvers from Konjic participated in international exhibitions too.
