After welcoming speeches of the mayor of the City of Solin, Dalibor Ninčević, Director of the Public Institution RERA S.D. for Coordination and Development of Split Dalmatia County, Jozo Sarač and Director of the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Areas in the County of Split and Dalmatia “Sea and Karst", Ivan Gabelica, the project was presented by members of the team of project partners, respectively Public Institution RERA S.D. as the lead partner, and City of Solin, Public Institution "Sea and Karst", City of Mostar. Project activities of the Tourist Board of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, as partner organization, were presented by project coordinator Ramiz Bašić. Representatives of the Tourist Organization of Podgorica were prevented from attending the event.
"RiTour" is a project of cross-border cooperation of historic towns on the rivers of the Adriatic Basin - Solin, Mostar and Podgorica, aimed at valorising cultural and natural heritage and putting them into the function of sustainable tourism. The project co-financed by the European Union is worth about EUR 850,000, out of which EUR 98,589.16 for Tourist Board of HNK.
Apart from building a simple visitor infrastructure and supply of thematic equipment in each of the cities, the project focuses on improving the way of managing natural and cultural heritage through cooperation of stakeholders with different competencies and responsibilities, and then activating the economic potential of sustainable use of heritage through inclusion and education of target groups from the tourism sector, international promotion of destinations and increasing number of visitors, and ultimately raising awareness of the wider community about the importance of heritage conservation and its proper use.
Within its project activities the Tourist Board of HNK shall carry out the following infrastructure works: construction of three fisherman stops on the river Buna (the fisherman stop is a fishing spot especially for fly fishing); arranging the source area at Bare site and revitalizing the entire area; arranging a fishing trail in Blagaj, which is also a walking path near the River Buna (the cobblestone path from Karađozbeg’s Bridge towards source of the River Buna).
The implementation of the project will last 30 months, i.e. until 31 December 2019.
European project RiTour presented in Solin
On September 19, 2017 the presentation of the European project "RiTour", which received funding under the first call for proposals for the INTERREG IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Croatia - Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro 2014-2020, was held in Solin.
